As the holiday season approaches, the National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has launched its highly anticipated campaign, “Tabasamu Tukupe Mashavu,” celebrating the spirit of togetherness, joy, and savings. Designed to enrich the festive experience for customers, this dynamic initiative promises a cornucopia of discounts and prizes, creating meaningful opportunities for families and friends to come together in celebration.

At its core, “Tabasamu Tukupe Mashavu” aims to alleviate the financial pressures that often accompany the year-end festivities. By providing enticing discounts of up to 10 per cent on various services and products, NBC is helping its customers make the most of their holiday budgets.

This commitment to affordability is further exemplified by the array of prizes, including cash rewards, shopping vouchers, and the campaign’s crowning jewel: an extraordinary four-day getaway to the picturesque Zanzibar for one lucky winner and a companion of their choosing.

The campaign was officially launched at NBC’s headquarters in Dar es Salaam over the weekend where an enthusiastic crowd gathered, comprising key stakeholders from partner companies such as PUMA Energies, ABC Emperio, GSM, Johari Rotana, Bravo Coco, and Numero Uno. Weaving through the event was NBC’s Business Banking Director, Mr. Elvis Ndunguru, whose insights illuminated the profound significance of this initiative. 

“The name ‘Tabasamu Tukupe Mashavu’ encapsulates the essence of the holiday season. ‘Tabasamu’ represents the joy customers experience through effortless transactions and payments, regardless of where they are, while ‘Mashavu’ signifies the satisfaction derived from receiving exceptional service with enhanced value,” Mr. Ndunguru explained.

Through this campaign, NBC is reinforcing its dedication to promoting monetary inclusion and the use of formal banking systems. The bank invites customers to engage with their loved ones through convenient transactions during the holiday period, while simultaneously enjoying remarkable savings on purchases from retail stores, supermarkets, restaurants, and online shopping platforms.

Mr. Ndunguru excitedly revealed the exciting prizes awaiting customers: “Among the delights, customers can look forward to an all-expenses-paid trip to the idyllic Zanzibar for the winner and their special guest. Furthermore, we will be awarding cutting-edge smartphones such as the iPhone 16 to lucky winners every week during the campaign. Countless other prizes—including gift vouchers, laptops, gas cookers, cash rewards, and various surprises—will also be distributed weekly to those who participate most actively in transactions.” 

To ensure a seamless experience, Ms. Esnat Hollela, NBC’s Manager for Cards and IMT Business, outlined the straightforward path to participation. “Customers simply need to use their NBC VISA cards for transactions at ATMs, agents (WAKALA), retail outlets, fuel stations, restaurants, and even for online services like Netflix and Amazon,” she noted. “The more customers use their cards and NBC services, the higher their chances are of winning amazing prizes.”

NBC’s commitment to its agents is equally noteworthy. WAKALA and those utilizing NBC POS machines are also encouraged to foster increases in customer transactions, with the potential for weekly prizes awaiting those who excel in driving service engagement through NBC WAKALA Pesa services.

Participating companies, including PUMA Energies, ABC Emperio, GSM, Johari Rotana, Bravo Coco Beach, and Numero Uno, reaffirmed their commitment to offering price reductions on their products as part of their involvement in the campaign.
